Per pound for the sup- port of the government, and the next year would have done the same in reply to his promise that, in consideration of their scruples, the money "should not be dipped in blood, " but should "feed the hungry and clothe the naked" Indians, unable to hunt because fighting for the English, but Fletcher would not ccjnsent to the formal appropriation of part of the prcKeeds to Lloyd and ]^Iark- ham.
