Neither the crown nor the colonies ever appealed in vain to these brave people, now widely scattered, for help in the old French wars. Major Robert Rogers, the famous commander of the three companies of rangers raised by New Hampshire in 1756, was himself a native of Londonderry, and most of his men were enlisted in the same locality.
