...

an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Not my typical genre. Far too gratuitous and explicit with no advancement to the plot or characters, in my opinion. I honestly believe the author had a completely different ending lined up and the publisher made her dilute or change completely. The last 90 pages didn't close any of the loops and foreshadowing from the first 220 pages. Then again, like I said, this isn't my normal genre.

This book was so entertaining I was able to finish it in a week. I would have gotten done sooner if I had the time. The book had parts of romance in it but it also had lots of suspense. The suspense of the book made me want to read it quicker. A big part of the book is about finding what the truth is. But there are two different truths it could be. While trying to find that out there is a creepy, horror component of one of the truths. I would definitely recommend this book.

OMG, this is such a great suspense novel. This is my first CoHo read and I was completely engrossed from the first line ‘I hear the crack of his skull before the spattering of blood reaches me’; I’m still not sure what to believe, I guess that’s the idea though…an idea brilliantly executed. If you’ve got this on your tbr shelf you have to read it NOW!

In 2023 I am being more stingy with my stars. This was a quick read but did not like much about this book. I was able to appreciate the plot and I liked the way it sort of told two stories/gave two perspectives, however I did not find it suspenseful and the plot twists were eh. I guess I went into it thinking it was going to be a raunchy kind of read but it made my maternal skin crawl instead. More sex next time ms colleen!

Gripped my imagination from the first chapter. My mind scanned a lot of possibilities with each new twist the author dropped into the plots. There were always more than one as the characters’ lives were revealed in past and present situations. I didn’t give it five stars because the intimate scenes were too graphic for my taste. I skimmed over much of these but got the drift. All in all, this was a page turner and expertly played.
