C, 1744), who married the daughter of a Portland pastor, and died in 1786, after a pastorate of thirty years, having baptized thirteen hundred and forty-four persons. He died in 1828, aged seventy-eight, and in the forty- third year of his ministry. It was Mr. Damon who prayed from his pulpit, because his fishermen parishioners were obliged to go exactly two opposite ways to the fishing-grounds, and he would not pray against either venture.
