To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

He desecrated the temple of his immortal spirit, by no profane orgies ; and his habits of temperance, thus early formed, were the parent of the health and vigor which blessed him even to the close of life. Ensign Harrison was soon advanced to the rank of lieutenant. So highly did General Wayne, his commander-in-chief, esteem him for his courage, attention to discipline, and other military qualities, that he commissioned him as one of his aids-de- camp. In his general orders and official despatc...h- es, General Wayne, on more than one occasion, had reason to commend the bravery and good conduct of Lieutenant Harrison. The bloody and desperate battle of the Miami, in which the Indians were totally defeated, terminated the war. Soon after this battle, he was promoted to the rank of captain, and was assigned to the command of an important station on the western frontier. As, however, the peace with the Indians allowed him no farther opportunity of serving his country in the field, he, at the close of the year 1797, resigned his commission in the army.
