With the exception of a portion of the right lobe and lobus spiegelii, almost all the parenchyma was broken down and replaced by pus. In an attempt to remove the viscus the abscess broke and discharged its contents into the abdominal cavity, so that it was impossible to measure the pus. The upper lobe of right and the left lung, the heart, spleen, and kidneys were normal.
