Dennett 38 SOUTH HAMPTON FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY Trustees Report - 1985 1985 was a year of progress and change for the Library Trustees.
We continued to work with the librarian, Mrs. Carole McCarthy, to update our handbook of policies and standards.
The major project was to consolidate plans for library renovation under the state Library Construction and Services Act. We hired Mr.
Brud Weger of the firm Noldesign (Hampton, NH) to draft a schematic design for the proposed library. This is on display... in the Town Hall.
At a special Town Meeting in June, the Town voted to allow the Library Trustees to renovate the fire station annex into a library. With this affirmation of support, the Trustees in July submitted the applica- tion for matching funds. An award of $25,000 was made in September, matched by monies held in trust funds, by the Friends of the Library, and various pledges and donations. We are pleased that the award will allow us to work on this project for the benefit of the ccxrmunity and we thank Mr.
