What reading level is Atoms book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
At the same time it has been found possible to measure, more or less roughly, their rotation. In doing this I marked, at equal intervals of time, the successive positions of particular granular inclusions. This enabled me subsequently to fix the orientation of the spheres at each instant and to calculate approximately their rotation from one instant to another. Calculations based on about 200 measurements with spheres 13 /A in diameter gave me, by the application of Einstein's formula, the valu...e 65 x 10 22 for N, the probable exact value being 69 x 10 22 . In other words, starting from the latter value for N, we should expect to find for VA 2, in degrees per minute, the value 14 ; by experiment we find 14-5.
1 These inclusions do not appreciably affect the density of the grains ; in an aqueous urea solution mastic grains remain in suspension, in solutions containing equal quantities of urea, whether they do or do not contain inclusions. I have also investigated the nature of the inclusions, which probably consist of a viscous paste containing traces of alcohol.
