In an account of some of his experiments, published in London Engineering, April 19th, 1878, a descrip...tion and illustration of one of these radiometers is iven as follows : One of the instruments employed is that shown in Fig. (>, in which is suspended in the ordinary way upon a needle point a four-armed radiometer, carrying rectangular vanes of clear mica, b b, set on an angle with the horizontal arms like the vanes of a smoke- jack. A short dis- tance below this fly is fixed in a horizontal plane a circular loop of platinum wire, c c, the two ends of which pass through the bulb, being hermetically nettled into the gbm, and finish in the terminals -j- and, by which the platinum ring can be placed in circuit with a voltaic battery, and thm rendered incandes- cent.
