It is plain that the c facts of religion * are no facts for them. M. Loisy's Jesus may have been a more respectable Messiah than Theudas, but he belongs to the same category. There has been, after all, a real breach of continuity, and no mere development, in the Church as they conceive it ; and it is a breach which divides the Church from the historical Christ.
