The Corps of Engineers and the Army Medical Service have responsibilities for detection of CBR agents in water as explained in paragraph 5. However, it must be emphasized that a representa- tive of the Army Medical Service should be consulted immediately upon suspicion of contamination of a water source by CBR agents so that a laboratory type test can be made by trained personnel.
b. In addition to normal water treatment processes, water sup- ply personnel must be constantly on the alert to det...ect indications of actual use of CBR agents. The Chemical Agent Water Testing Kit (AN- M2), for detection of toxic chemical agents (fig. 79), which is a part of the water quality control set, is used to detect water sources so contaminated that ordinary field treatment methods cannot make the water potable.
