I felt sure the boy was going crazy, and felt it my duty, as the natural head of the family, to do all I could to save him. At that time we were both apprentices, learning our trades, he in a printing-office, and I upon the scaffold of a bricklayer. He would come home in the evening from his work, wash and dress himself, and then after supper set out for the church.
