What reading level is Herefordshire book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
Size. Shape. Boundaries. The boundaries of our English counties vary much in character. Some, like Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cornwall are of simple outline and largely delimited by sea and river. Others, like Hereford, are extremely complex in shape, and rivers, though numerous and well-adapted to serve as convenient boundaries, have been made but little use of for this purpose. Herefordshire in point of size stands 2gth among the 41 English counties. It is about 40 miles in length measuring from n...orth to south, about 35 miles from east to west, and has an area of about 840 square miles. Its total area in statute acres, including inland water, is officially given as 538, 924 acres. Roughly the county is an irregular oval, or blunt- pointed diamond in form, with the long axis running nearly north and south, and the county town nearly in the centre. We may begin our peregrination of the boundaries close to the southern point, just north of Monmouth, where the Wye forms the limit for some three miles or so, rounding Doward Hill and Lord's SIZE SHAPE BOUNDARIES 11 Wood until Symond's Yat is reached, a lovely spot much visited by tourists.
