Friedman: Yes, the filing drawer [laughs] approach. You asked me about the hospital and I forgot to mention that. But they had mother...s in two-bed wards and beside each other was a drawer and the baby was in the drawer. This drawer also went through into a separate little nursery area, sort of a place for cleaning up "The baby in the drawer, " a system of infant care shared by the mother and the nursing staff. The system was used at Kaiser hospitals in Honolulu, Walnut Creek, and elsewhere.
