The beloved wife and mothe...r survived the death of this son less than three years. She died September 29, 1855, in the thirty-fourth year of her age, and was buried at Mount Auburn. I was old enough to recognize her lovely character, and in some slight measure to be conscious of the great loss which had fallen upon the family. In referring to her I quote from a tribute to her memory in The Congregationalist, October 19, 1855 : * * * " In a family circle of ten children, all arrived at adult age, this was the first link broken from the social chain.
