111. He was the son of David Duncan Daniels and Susannah Clark (Hemingway), a widow at the time of her marriage to David D. Daniels. David D. Daniels took his family west from Erie, Pa., to Cooper's Grove, 111., near present day Blue Island, about 1840.
Adelia Crary was 10 years old when her family went west from Rush- ford, Allegheny Co., N.Y., to 111. in ...a covered wagon, and she gives an interesting story of the journey west, plus family infor- mation, in a brief, unfinished autobiography which she wrote in 1852. She helped on the family farm in Homewood, Bloom Twsp, 111., after her father's death in 1838 when she was 13. She later taught a few pupils in a frontier school for a time.
