They were filled with bright prospects, and one of them had a pretty daughter, so he left McHale without much ceremony to fight out his destiny alone. There was nothing to do but wait for Hutson to come back. After a month and no signs of him, McHale's cash running low, compelled him to take work as a farmhand, and to help clear some land in the Conewago Hills.
