His attitude of mind was sim- ply that his will was law by the Grace of God, and that it must be enforced with all the power that Great Britain could bring to bear.
In their resistance to the Trade Laws the colonists were still carrying on trade without paying the duties which the English Parliament had decreed that they should pay.
