His best and most lasting works, beside his Dictionary, are his " Lives of the Poets, " and the short poems, " London, " and " Vanity of Human Wishes. " His edition of " Shakspere, " though valuable when published and made a college prize-book, has been completely surpassed in value by recent English and German versions.
