This writer lived in Montana for over 20 years and was fortunate enough to fish some of the bigger rivers and streams with some nationally known fishermen. I was also lucky enough to fish with several equally good local fishermen. If you leave out extremely long casting, which 1 never saw him do.
Bill Simpson had no superiors and darned few peers. He could put a fly nearer the exact spot it should be — even in a bad wind — than anyone I've ever seen. And he did it almost every time with no more than one false cast.
