Besides, hehad seen the old witch's horses run and knew that they were fineanimals, no worthless jades. So he went through the drove, and as hewalked noticed a sick filly, which he pitied because it looked soneglected, but he did not think of choosing it. She merely advised him to selectanother, better animal, telling him that he would soon be without ahorse, and that good work deserved good wages, but at last she gaveit to him.
