What reading level is Studies in American Trade Unionism book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The joint conference board met for the first time in New York, May 18, 1900. Strikes in several localities were at once declared off, and al- though doubt was expressed by each side as to the power of the other to control its members, a general agreement was adopted covering all the shops within the jurisdiction of the two organizations. This agreement was so decidedly favor- able to the employers that none objected, since all shops that were formerly closed or union shops became by the terms o...f the agreement open shops. On the other hand, when the na- ture of the agreement became known among the rank and file of the machinists, it caused serious dissatisfaction among the local unions in well-organized cities. 1 The agreement was, however, faithfully observed during the year, but in the spring of 1901 the Machinists sought in the conference to obtain a more satisfactory agreement. The employers insisted on the former terms, and a general strike occurred. The Association abrogated all agreements and formulated a hostile " declaration of principles " as a guide for its actions in future dealings with the unions.
