Although these, with many more conjectures, may be alleged as some part of the defence of this duchess, and of her chaplains and priests, yet, because it may still not be impossible for the matter laid against them to be true, 1 leave it therefore at large, as 1 find it ; saying, as I said before, that if tliat be true which the stories say in this matter, think, 1 beseech thee, gentle reader !
