The reinforce- ment Was sadly injured by the fire of the enemy, and soon fled across the river in the utmost confusion. The Indians gained our flank and rear, and butchered our soldiers most shockingly. General Winchester and some of the troops were taken prisoners, and marched to the British camp. Lewis still * It is to be greatly regretted, that after so si^al a triumph, this fine detachment had not retired, or that General Harrison had not been apprised of these movements in time to support tUem.— Judge Hall.
