What reading level is The Life of James Omalley Late of the 17th Leicester Royal Bengall Tigers book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

A great source of amusement both to officers and men, was watching the divers who came alongside in small boats. The boat was managed by a boy thus leaving the diver at libert}^ to attend to him- self. Their dress consisted of a light pair of drawers and a loose shirt. Having ranged up just below the gonwale over which we were leaning, and taking off* his upper garment, he said in broken English, '* Six pence ! me dive for six pence ! me get him quick ! ! ! " One of the officers threw a six pen...ce into the water, supposing he was going to the bottom for it, but he knew a much easier way of catching it. The moment it struck the water, he was after it like liofhteninp- and rapidly diving with his hand under the coin fished it up, put it between his teeth and reappeared on the surface. He earned a good many six-pences in this way before he left our ship. After staying here for two days during which time we took on board a battery of the Royal Artillery and large quantities of ammunition we once more weighed anchor.
