What reading level is Turkey And Its Future book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

Ephrem, St. Ireneeus, St. Polycarp, St. Chrysostom, and St. Basil are all witnesses to their unity of faith with the early Christians, and to the authority of the Patriarchs of Antioch and Jerusalem and Constantinople. How can it be expected that these venerable Churches, with their ancient traditions and cherished liturgies, will be won over by the cold crudities of Calvinism, or by the blatant bigotry of John Knox ?
I have been informed by residents in Asiatic Turkey that the effects of the t
...eaching of English and American missionaries there have been mainly to shake the belief of native Christians in any form of religion, and to cause them to scoff at Revelation altogether. A Maronite stated not long ago that the teachings of the American missionaries had convinced him that there was no truth in the Scriptures, and that Presbyterianism was a mixture of Judaism and Freethought. Herbert Spencer, whom he curiously called a Protestant Saint (!), was henceforth to be his guide.
It is impossible to deny that the colleges and medical missions established by the American missionaries at Beirut and elsewhere have contributed greatly to the advancement of scientific knowledge in Turkey, and therefore to the awakening of the nation, but at the same time it has aroused a spirit of unrest and dissatisfaction with the present regime, which is recognised by the Government as a most dangerous symptom.
