Ohio, Jan. 16, 1813, m Rev. Mathias Burchfield. He d in Tuscarawas Co. Ohio, Mar. 16, 1822. They were married in West- moreland Co. Pa. , and removed to Ohio about the time her mother came. He was a farmer, but be- came a United Brethren minister, preaching in Ger- man, and had a church on his own farm. It is said that Mathias Burchfield preached in the German language, but that he was of Scotch descent; his father and brother having come over from Scotland and settled in Pennsylvania.
