Away, then, back to Egypt,- and, after a few more robberies, over agai...n into Persia, where poor forlorn Darius was making prodigious exertions to raise another army, to fight one more fight for his life and his crown. So vast was Persia at this time, and so thickly peopled, that this second army of Darius was greater than the first ; it consisted, they say, of more than half a million of men.
The number made no difference to Alexander.
Up he marched, as eager for the fray as ever ; found the Persians at Arbela, and beat them again. King Darius, as usual, being the first to run away when the fight grew warm.
