T...herefore the retarded group had the advantage of the withdrawals during the long summer vacation. It is quite likely that after this period a large number of children do not return to school. On the other hand it must not be overlooked that the elimination for the non-retarded group only would be less than 25. 4 per cent and that it Avould be higher for the retarded group, if information of all the transferred chil- dren were to be had. In view of these considerations it is justifiable to claim that the retarded children, the very ones who have profited least by public education, are the first to leave school.
