It is doubtful whether ηλικία is to be re- ferred {a) to age (Jolm ix. 21, so clearly Mattli. vi. 27), or (l>) to stature (Luke xix. ...3), both being explanations hero equally admissible ; see Bos, Exercit. p. 183. In the former case, τοΰ ιτληρ. τ. Xp. will be the qualifying, or rather char- acterizing gen. (Schcuerl. Synt. § 16, 3, Chap. IV. 14. EPHESIANS. 97 τον, ^* ίνα μηκβτί ωμβν νήττωι, κλυΒωνίζόμβνοι καΐ ττεριφερόμβνοι ρ. 115, and notes on ch. i. 10), and will more nearly define ttjs tjXik., — ' the age when the fulness of Chi-ist is received ; ' in the latter the gen.
