...ent deer-parks, stretching along a concave bend of the mountain to the distance of four miles, and terminating in the wild, picturesque, and beautiful recess of Glencoin. They are not trimly kept or adorned by walks or buildings, but left nearly in the natural state, and covered in the lower part with woods, and in the more elevated parts with grass and fern. Their extent is eighteen hnndred acres, but they are divided into three parks, Glencoin Park, Gowbarrow Park, and the Low Park ; the first and last of which are farmed off, and the second, which contains eight hundred acres, is stocked with four hundred head of deer.
