Eedgrave have given to their comprehensive history of English painting the limited title of " A Century of Painters of the English School ; " 1 all the best of our English artists, with the exception of those still living, who do not come within the scope of their work being included within this period, which extends from the time of Hogarth to the middle of the present century.
