In 1 85 1, the reply to the letter of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the subject of the third Jubilee of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, was from his pen ; as also the singularly able document, entitled " The Prayer of the Diocese, " both to be found in the Convention Journal of 1 85 1 . Another, on the subject of the renunciation of the ministry, to use the language of Dr. Haight, was " of great power in its analysis, in its logic, and in that marvellous simplicity, and beauty, and vigour of language for which he was so celebrated.
