Pelopidas was wounded, and fell, and Epaminondaa believed him to be dead. But he would not even then forsake him ; and, throwing himself upon tho body of Pelopidas, he continued to shield it until he was nearly overpowered, and would probably have been killed, but for the happy arrival of some Spartans, who saVed them both.
