Much of their Music, chronologically separated by a gap of sixty years, might be introduced into a still later work, by Shield, or Davy, without exciting a sus- picion of incongruity. Yet it is excellent Music, thoroughly artistic, free from all taint of vulgarity, and, in every important characteristic, superior to nine-tenths of that to which we are expected to listen in the lighter pieces of the present day, either in England, or on the Continent.
