Soon after our arrival here, we took into our family a little Chinese boy, whom we feed and clothe. I imme- diately commenced teaching him the English 96 MEMOIR OF MRS. SHUCK. alphabet, and was both surprised and delighted to find him uncommonly apt. He very soon became perfectly acquainted with his letters, and he is now spelling, and can write very well.
