They all stated explicitly that they would obey the United States' authorities, the organic act of Congress ; the courts created under it ; the judges and marshals appointed by the President. They declared that if wrong was done under these authorities their only opposition should be an appeal to the General Government and to the Su- preme Court of the United States.
