Bureau of Soils, which has issued a large number of special reports on selected areas, for which the prevailing soil types, their fertility and agricultural use have been determined. Probably 15 per cent, or more of the entire area of the United States has gradually been surveyed in this manner, and wherever feasible the topographic atlas sheets of the U.
