Por- tugal was, however, wrested by the English out of the hands of the French in 1808. The strug- gle between Dom Pedro, and his brother Dom Miguel has ended in Portugal. Dom Pedro, having secured the crown to his daughter Don- na Maria la Gloria, expired in the midst of tri- umph.
