On the other hand, there are some, even among the most devout, w^ho declare that the more vague, visionary, and indefinite are our ideas of God, the more reverent and worship- ful will be our attitude toward Him — as though... A SUMMARY l8l man's imagination might exceed the grandeur and sublimity of God's infinity ! and as though in its real- ity there is not enough to engage all our reverence and adoration ! This must be a mistaken attitude, for ignorance inevitably causes greater error and more confusion, while a clear understanding of even a fragment of truth will lead to further knowledge, better understanding, and a wiser course of conduct. The more we know of God the closer we shall come to Him, the more we shall love Him, the better we can order our own lives, and the more nearly shall we worship Him in spirit and in truth.
