'* Therefore, be- hold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. " If God could so expressly declare, that, in judgment, and as a punishment of his rebellious Israel, he would subject to such infatuation the minds of their principal men, who had the management of their national concerns, is it not to be presumed, that he has done so, and will continue to do so, with respect to other nations ?
