In Sweet's Eomic the symbol 3 is consistently used for the neutral vowel o; but since the same letter is used for the accented vowel a, confusion is likely to occur in pronunciation, unless the accented vowel is always marked with a diacritic, as in ((hut, ob-at; uttered, a-tad (Eomic); compare the spellings obAt, Atod (Callendar).
The unaccented vowels w aud y are generally rejiresented in other systems by the letters u and i\ but the soi;nd y is also often represented by e.
