In the theatres it was considered that from the amount of gas burnt and the small difference between the outside and inside temperature, besides the fact that no extensive provision for ventilation being in use, that the air would be very bad, much worse than in winter, when the outside tem- perature is low. In the theatres the escape of burnt gas is not sufficiently provided for, and the products of combustion strike the roof and roll over into the galleries.
