White Pine, almost alone, supplied the market, and being fortu- nately so well adapted to practically all build- ing requirements, did its work admirably. But as the industry has reached out into the vast timbered areas of the north and south and west, new woods have found their way into the mar- ket, partly to compete with White Pine, the recognized standard structural wood, and partly to supply the greatly increasing demand for lumber products.
