1 '-07 ^^^^ Benevolent Lodge of free and accepted Masons was constituted on the 10 August. Hon. Samuel Dana was installed Master, Jonathan Gove, Esq. Senior War- den, and Capt. Luther Dana, Junior Warden- The Deputy Grand Master of New-Hampshire, and other officers of the Grand Lodge, attended on the occasion, and were met by the Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, all in their r...egalia. The discourse was delivered by the late Rev. Dr. Bentley of Salem.
I'-no "^^^ Honourable Samuel Dana, who had resided In this town about sixteen years, departed this life in April, at the age of 58. Of one, who filled so many im- portant stations in society, it seems proper to give some me- morial of respect. He was a native of that part of Cambridge, now called Brighton, where he was born 14 January, 1739. He was educated at Harvard College in the same class with President Adams, and several other distinguished characters.
