Had we efpoufed the phantom our adverfaries would father upon us, the charge againft us would be juft, and our devotions to the Saints damnable : as, on the contrary, we 1 difavow and execrate it, we are confequently out of the reach of this odious indictment.
BUT, to the fecond part of the objection are not, lay they, our addrefles to them, at leaft, blameable ; in begging an aid and afiiftance which we Ihould expect at the hands of GOD alone ?
