He viewed the body with emotion and averted eye and had it laid with marching and flute music in the royal tomb at Sinope. 2 For going over to Rome Pharnaces received as his reward a kingdom on the northern shore; but it was too narrow for his ambitions, and while Pompey was absent in his western war with Julius Caesar, Pharnaces crossed the sea and took Sinope from Calvinus, who had been given charge of Pompey's territory.
