The most disheartening thing about it all is that this has come apparently to be regarded by pupils as all that is expected, and by teachers as all that is possible.
Of the impressions that one gets from listening to Latin reci- tations, two or three deserve mention : — Eirst, the pupils do not seem to know how to study or else are disinclined to effort.
