The break down of calls are as follows: Medical Emergencies topped the list this year with 48 calls, 30 responses for trauma, and 35 responses in aid of the Fire Department. We continue to work with the paramedic intercept and Emergency Medical Technicians - Intermediates, which provides advanced life support for the critically injured or ill patient.
Currently the Rescue Squad consists of 10 members; 6 EMT-Basics, 2 members are currently enrolled in an EMT course and 2 driver/firefighter. Last... summer 3 members took part in Pediatric Trauma Training, this training will enable them to offer more advanced care to the children of Deering. 1 member attended training on the care and prevention of burn victims, as well as all members keeping CPR, EOA, and defibrillation certification current.
This year we requested donations by mail from the citizens of Deering. We are pleased to report a great response to our efforts. It is our goal to use the funds received to upgrade our ambulance.
We continue to plan events in which the towns people have the opportunity to meet the members of the squad.
