Early in 1998 we experienced an ice storm, which caused severe damage to forests of New Hampshire. This damage created a greater potential fire hazard as well as safety hazards to many areas of the state. Your local fire warden and Forest Rangers need your assistance in preventing wildfires in these hard hit areas and throughout the State. If you need assistance or information dealing with ice damaged woodlands, please call 1-800-444-8978. The State of New Hampshire operates 15 fire towers, 2 mobile patrols and 3 contract aircraft patrols.
